We're planning a trip to Foster in 2 weeks and was curious if anybody knew what the camping situation was. I read the campground is closed in the winter. Curious if anyone knew the dates. Also any other info or tips about the area are appreciated. First time going there. Thanks
There is a primitive campground off the trail called Father Adams campsite. It's free. It is not the ground that is next to the parking area. You will have to hike into it via the Feiry Gizzard trail but it is on the way to the climber access trails. There will be a sign at the trail split that will direct you to the camp ground.
Father Adamz is primitive camping (fire rings, latrine) but only about a 1/2-1 mile hike from the parking lot. The parking lot area has water and flush toilets. A bit more of a trek but my favorite is the "Small Wilds" campsites.
Thierry makes a good point on the camping there. They charge per tent not per site. Depending on who with and how you travel it can get expensive. We traveled with a bunch of single people each with their own tents and it was VERY expensive, but a real nice campground.
