Hello,

We're planning a trip to Foster in 2 weeks and was curious if anybody knew what the camping situation was. I read the campground is closed in the winter. Curious if anyone knew the dates. Also any other info or tips about the area are appreciated. First time going there. Thanks

There is a primitive campground off the trail called Father Adams campsite. It's free. It is not the ground that is next to the parking area. You will have to hike into it via the Feiry Gizzard trail but it is on the way to the climber access trails. There will be a sign at the trail split that will direct you to the camp ground.

Relaxing at the P1 belay of Fruit Loops at Rumbling Bald.

Glad you got your answer; I think you'll find this is a much better source for informative responses. rc.com is a complete waste of internet bandwidth.

I'm surprised the lawyers at rc.com couldn't help. (funny that MP automatically uses that URL).

Campground opens on March 16, 2012.

Last year's cost PER TENT was $16/night.

Father Adamz is primitive camping (fire rings, latrine) but only about a 1/2-1 mile hike from the parking lot. The parking lot area has water and flush toilets.
A bit more of a trek but my favorite is the "Small Wilds" campsites.

Have fun.

Thierry makes a good point on the camping there. They charge per tent not per site. Depending on who with and how you travel it can get expensive. We traveled with a bunch of single people each with their own tents and it was VERY expensive, but a real nice campground.

Adam: It's not the same campground.

The TVA Foster Falls campground is a drive-in 'car camping' with heated showers, table, water faucets, fire rings, etc. It opens March 16 and will cost $16 per tent (last year's price).

The Father Adamz campground is a hike-in campsite (no showers, no water). It's open year-round and cost $0 (you do have to register at the kiosk I think).

Nooooooooo... *shocked face*.
As much as people bitch sometimes about MP, I find it to be far more conducive to people looking for general info. You could be a ten year veteran, but if you ask something on RC that has been answered in a thread three years ago, or that you could have "just done a search on, bro" then you're a dumbass noob and you're gonna die.

Just saw this:

camping at foster falls - new price

Much more reasonable (and in line with other campgrounds).
