No, seriously. I need a good pair of mountain pants. Something for alpine climbing. Stretch fabric. Water resistant, won't tear up easily, etc. I am about 5'10'' with a 30 or 32 inch waist. Anyone bought something like this recently and realized they don't fit?

Ghostride da whip!

For summer alpine climbing? Find yourself some Patagonia Simple Guide pants. Sorry, you can't have mine.

Now, if I could only find a pair of legit rock climbing pants.

great white throne as seen from moonlight buttress.

Go to Montbell.
Get the Alpine light schoeller pants.
They work well for alpine and hold up strong on rock.
comfy, cool and classy. Plus half the price of Patagucci.

Busted

When I was a kid and I told my dad that I was going climbing, he would always tell me to make sure that I'm wearing my light fall underwear!

A 2006 photo of me at the top of "Lizards and Scorpions with Blue Sky and Clouds on Tuesday" or some other crazy route name. Nice view from the rim though. Image by Joseffa Meir.

Yeah... unless you do wide cracks. Verve is nice stuff and soft and comfy, but not durable. The AR Ryoline tights I have are just now loosing a seem and a ankle zipper after 12 years as my main pants... I have no idea how many pairs of Verve I've gone through.. but they last about 1 year on average and I try to avoid playing rough with them.

Gramichi Quickdry are also nice.

So... Dave, I have some "2nds" (cosmetic defects) of some Gramichi painter parts and the like that I got at Sierra Trading Post that are too tight in the tush for me (I have 2 tushies, I have been told, and they don't both fit) They are Sz 30/32 (sm). You can check them out someday... they were $15 per pair... PM me.

For general climbing Arbor Wear work great. Though as nails and pretty easy on your pennies. After a couple of washings they break in really nice. They have several models to choose from. The Tree climbers pant is pretty hefty but you will be hard pressed to wear them out. I Like the climbers single front pant for all around climbing.

Any of the Schoeller pants by different companies work well I would find the one that fits and that is in your price range. Look fro the Schoeller dynamic fabric and even better is if it has the nanoshphere treatment. I have a pair of the BD Alpine pant that I cannot kill have been wearing them for 12 wears. Very hard wearing pants.
