Overview of boulder clusters. See separate section...

Description

At the end of almost every street that deadends into the Sandia foothills on the east side of town there is a collection of established boulder problems. The most popular of these is U-mound at the end of Copper. There are also a good collection of problema at the end of Indian School, the Tram Terminal and the Juan Tabo PG which is on the way up to the La Luz trailhead. I believe that there are also several problems developed in Lower La Cueva Canyon.

Getting There

Driving along Tramway Blvd, turn east and drie the roads till they end.

Featured Route For Foothills Bouldering
V2 highball with a tricky mantle start (much easier up high), accessed through a corridor on the north side of the main cluster (tops out just above the knob problem). Very bad landing.

Crux is pulling off the ground. You can either start matched on the lower black feature (significantly harder, due to lack of feet), or reach up and start with your left hand on the next higher black feature. Crimp to a mantle move, then stand up and collect yourself for some easy but heady crimping to the top.Downclimb is on the opposite side....[more]   Browse More Classics in NM
