Mountain Project: Forum: Flying squirrel, Devils Lake, WI

I was pulling the overhang on Pigeon roof when a flying squirrel unexpectedly jumped/flew out of the crack right at my face level and hit me in my throat. He flew/glided down to a tree over by the base of B-Minor Mass. It happened so quick, my adrenaline didnt have time to react! It was a very cool experience.

Yes I know about flying squirrels, there is a route of mine at Jackson Falls called "Squirrel House Crack" 5.9. Squirrel flew out while I was leading it.

Ha this was good! Your battle was more intense than that squirrel and my brief encounter. I guess the people below saw something climbing in the crack in front of me for awhile before it jumped out at me. I was unaware. After reading your story, I suppose the critter purposefully went for my throat! Probably in an attempt to knock me off he wall!
If not, it makes for a better story!
