Ryan on the river wall, Jeff belaying
|Temporary closures near Fiscal Cliff: May-July 2014 MORE INFO >>>|
To the right of "Take Me To The River
," the River Wall Slab becomes more vegetated. Part of the beauty of "Flood Control" comes from picking your way through the forest without leaving a swath of destruction. The climbing is fairly continuous edging and smearing with occasional overlaps and an interesting stem up a bushy corner at the top.
Approach the route on rappel (100') from the ledge above, or from the ledge by the water by traversing past the belay stations along the base of the wall above the river.
Nine or ten bolts from a two bolt anchor (semi-hanging) to a two bolt anchor on the ledge.

Good route. Easy climbing up until the second to last bolt. Stay left to keep on clean rock at crux with an undercling move above. Most of the climb is pretty vegitated but the holds are in the clear.
