route on the north side of Overflow Dome. sandbag...

Description

Shady and sunny climbs. Can be windy and cold in the fall and spring. Very secluded. Rock type is a granite and quality is good to great.

Mostly sport ranging from 5.7 to 5.11.
Great place to go. Put it up as an institutional climbing site years ago. Never reported it because I wanted for my groups. Now that I am no longer in Cali. I will let this one out. Have fun.

There is one 3 pitch sport/trad route on the south west corner. Bolted anchors on the first 2 pitches and the top on the 3rd. alk off to the north.

Getting There

Take 395 north from personsville to the Kennedy Meadows turn off of 395 (about 4 to 5 miles north of persosville. Look for the Chimney Peak sign. Drive about 20 to 25 miles to Kennedy Meadows store. From the store go to Fish campground on your left however, turn right on a dirt pad for over use camping. follow dirt road until you can go straight or left, go left. Once you make the left go about 100 yards and park.
Hike to the end of the road where you will see a motorcycle bridge, hike across the bridge, once across the bridge make a left and follow fish creek up stream until you see the rock.
The approach is about 15 min from the car.

Feel this area should be moved to other than "high sierra", as the rest of the routes contained in the "high sierra" section are alpine routes, this is a cragging area.

Totally agree, Tavis. I've moved it to the Sonora Pass area.

Justin,

There are (at least) two Kennedy Meadows in the Sierra Nevada. The Kennedy Meadows near Sonora Pass is a major backpacking trailhead, and it is near a bunch of climbing.

The same is also true about the other Kennedy Meadows, the even bigger trailhead 20 to 25 miles off of Highway 395, south of Mount Whitney.

This Fish Creek area is near the southern Kennedy Meadows. It is not on Sonora Pass.

Thank you, Brad, for clarifying that. I was having real issues with the Kennedy Meadows that Greg Vernon was always talking about (accessed from 395 near Pearsonville, CA) and why Justin had it listed near Sonora Pass.

Thanks, I moved this crag to the Southern Sierra, and at least tagged the GPS of Kennedy Meadows. Such are the hazards of online navigation.

Great place to beat the heat. As of 7/16/2014, there are 10 bolted routes, and several trad routes.
