Finger injury question

Hi all! I was on my last route of the day, cranking on a square-ish to slopey edge, and felt mild pain in the knuckle of my middle finger. No swelling, but very limited mobility, and painful when I bend the finger. I have no pain if I weight my finger, only when flexing. A day and a half later, I have a good bit more mobility. I am mid-50s, been climbing since forever.

Worth a doctor's visit, or should I just rest for a week and reassess then? Any suggestions welcome. Thanks!

You are going to have to rest anyway, so you might as well start there. The remedy won't be surgery. Take NSAID's and ice the hell out of it for 10 days. A dixie cup frozen into a block of ice, set in your lap in front of the tv, is a good way to do that.

Thanks Sam!

Ps: I have a copy of your exotic rock guidebook -- enjoyed the write up of Hong Kong and other areas. Cool stuff!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
