Does anyone know what driving on westbound Hwy 50 from near Placerville/El Dorado National Forest toward I-5 is like?

Is it a slow going one or two laner at snail pace? No snow, correct? Any commuter hours I should avoid for efficient driving? Thanks.

It's been a while since I've driven that, but it is multiple-lane driving at the interchange. By the time Highway 50 hits I-5, it is a freeway.

Avoid the usual commuter hours: 4-7 PM.

A local can chime in with more accurate info. I don't think there is snow west of Placerville.

As of now roads are clear of snow. 50 turns into a two lane highway near Sly Park (20some miles east of Placerville) after the traffic lights in Placerville it's freeway until I-5. You'll want to avoid the 6:00-8:30am commute heading that way along with the 4:00-6:30pm one hitting I-5.
