Wife and I were in the Gunks for 2 days this summer. Bought a pass even though I don't live in the USA yet and she doesn't go climbing outdoors much without me so they probably won't get used until xmas.
It was $140 for the 2 of us. This doesn't seem like much when we pay $45 a month each for climbing wall membership. And where I come from our national parks are free.
You can't even get into the US national parks at the moment because of the shutdown but you can climb at the Gunks. I thought the Mohonk preserve was a really great place and the fee seems pretty good value by US standards when you take into account the unique situation it is in and the nearby population density. I know I will get a lot of use out of the pass in the future.
