Used these for the first time last weekend. The extra stiffness over dyneema/nylon is really useful for threads, and great for anchors - very impressed. Anyone got any views?

Where did you buy them?

They seem pretty cool - where did you pick them up? Are they similar to the petzl powercord?

Are they basically just sewn slings made out of round cord instead of flat webbing? Or is there some other feature?

Not to be a negative on these cords, but I kind of like being able to see where my slings are sewn together. Seems like you would have to just put blind trust in the company that they got it right.

I'd be interested to see why/how these don't suffer the well known "Kevlar fibers cut through each other after repeated flexing" that doomed earlier aramid cords like Gemini cord.

See, for example, user.xmission.com/~tmoyer/t… and look at the bending flex cycle tests.

The original Gemini was Spectra/Kevlar mix and was changed to Spectra/Technora as the latter has far better fatigue properties. I´d expect Edelrid to be using Technora anyway since it´s the more popular Euro choice but someone will have to ask them.
Bit of a specialist item really but if you climb in southern Europe on the razor sharp threads one encounters you´ll know why Italian guidebooks tell you to bring Kevlar threads with you! (I´ve cut a doubled 12mm Dyneema sling completely through by resting on it but that was my fault for being a weak slob I guess).

You can - the cover over the stitching is floating and can be pulled off the join to inspect it.

I live in the UK - ordered them from bouldersuk.com
