Kat w/ Stephen Warm up 1st night...HP40, Alabama

This is truly a climbing question, since the point is to move not only close to climbing areas but a good gym and great people.
Curently living on the VT/NH border and want to be closer to Burlington.
Not really looking for apartment living, just want to be near the stuff that is happening as well as outdoorsy people that also do the stuff we like to do.
Currently we climb, boulder, & mountainbike. This winter we're expecting to add some new ones as well..
THX in advance...

Well the nearest gym that I know of, other than the school gyms at williams and castleton and maybe svc, is in rutland. It is fairly big and the owner is quite knowledgeable about stuff in the area. Rutland is probably over an hour from Burlington.(I live in Bennington, which is about the same distance in the opposite direction, and it takes an hour to get their.) http://www.vermontclimbing.com/index.htm http://www.rockclimbing.com/routes/North_America/United_Stat>>>>>

Hope that helps!

Kat--

I live 15 minutes south of Burlington and have for years. Our local gym in Burlington (Petra Cliffs) is a great little establishment with a tremendously psyched climbing community, and awesome route setters (shameless plug for myself and Peter K.!). Local climbing includes Bolton, which has some fun sport climbing from 5.8 to 5.13+ and a great collection of boulders to play on. The Adirondacks are an hour away, which is pretty much the greatest climbing this side of the Milky Way Galaxy. Skiing/Riding is within a stones throw from B-Town, as well as some sick trails for running/biking/hiking on. Moving to the Burlington area should be a no brainer for you...you'll love it. Hope that helped.

Kat,
Good choice if your moving up there. Lived in VT for a while and the area is amazing. If you don't want to be IN Burlington(which can get pretty annoying) then you should check for places in Bolton, Richmond, or Waterbury. These towns are 15 and 30 minutes south of Burlington so you can still go see shows, go to the gym, go out, etc. More importantly these places are right next to multiple sport, trad, and bouldering areas. Skiing is not far away either(less than 1/2 hr depending where you go. Enjoy VT, I hope to get back up there soon.
Hope this helps
