Figured on stopping around Lincoln Woods for a couple days. Anybody know where I can stay - nearby camping, hotel, or open couch? Any recommended problems (don't really care what grade)? Anybody wanna climb with me? I'll get up there around April 27 and don't have to be anywhere until May 1st. Might not stay at Lincoln Woods that whole time, but at least a couple days.
Um Camping.....don't think so I climbed there a few times while traveling for business. Close to Providence, as in a very CITY feel to the park, in broken bottles and fire scarred rock.
BUT the bouldering is spectacular on some superbly gritty granite....but don't leave your wallet in the car
yeah, I was hoping to head there at some point this summer, but wasn't sure about the nearby camping options. Can anyone help out with some info? Is the cheapest option really a hotel somewhere nearby? Thanks.
i posted a bit about the route stuff on RC but here's what i can find for camping.. mind you i live 35 mins away and have not stayed at any of these places..
But.. think about it this way. Lincoln is practically in Providence.. it's not exactly a super market for people to have campgrounds.
Jim when was the last time you were at Lincoln Woods? I've been climbing there consistently for the past 4-5 years and i don't think it has a CITY feel. Yes in the summer time people are driving around with their music and it's not the middle of nowhere but through clean up efforts i think the conditions are pretty awesome. I know of one route that got messed up due to fire and another that has had fire pits under it before the but the rock is not scarred. I don't know of any major problems with glass near them. winter is prime.. conditions are the best it gets and the roads are closed so most people are gone
again OP you've posted on 2 boards with limited locals. NewEnglandbouldering.com owned by the author of the Lincoln Woods Guidebook Joe M.
Camping is no good. Nothing is open until May. I even checked NH parks (figured Pawtuckaway would be another stop). No camping - not even at the "family oriented" nudist resort I found. I'm gonna have too much crap with me to bum it in the woods. There are hotels close for around $100-150, and motels for less. Guess I'll have to do that.
I tried signing up at New England Bouldering (I'm still hoping a local might offer a couch or something). The administrator has to verify you first. I'm still waiting, but then I'll post there.
