Anyone know the details of Sundays accident?

I guess my questions is more of the tech. spectrum. Did he run it out and skip possilble placements that would have stopped this? Is there no gear on this climb? I have never climbed it so I do not know the climb or the gear situation.

Hopefully the gunks.com website will begin to address those questions. The climber had no recollection of what happened, from what my friends told me. But they were on another climb and didn't see. They just responded to someone's call for help that their leader was 'blacking out on the Three Pines ledge.'

That said, Three Pines is an easy climb to protect. It's a classic 5.3 that a lot of beginners get on.
