It's been a long time, but I'm back in northern New England and looking to climb in my old stomping grounds. I used to camp around the base of Cathedral Ledge. Is there any camping close to the cliffs, or a short drive? Thanks.
I spent the summer traveling the east, with about two weeks in N. Conway. The closest public camping we found was several miles from the crags, on the Kancamagus Highway. So most nights we just crashed in the back of the truck at Walmart. Not so glamourous, but the price was right...

Bragging about "poaching" a camp site on line is about as dumb as it gets, not to mention a great way to make climbers look bad in a public place. Especially in a place with so much free camping even closer to then crag.

ok I should have chosen my words more carefully, but thats what happened. We tried looking for those "free camping sites" but couldn't find them. None of the people we asked gave us any info.
As for climbers image, we kept a low profile and took out as much trash as possible, so I have no issues about the image I left behind.

The image I was referring to was the one you left behind on this website. I find it hard to imagine that the folks in IME would stonewall you on decent campsites. But if so, bummer.
