Eagle Buttress and Environs Rock Climbing
BETA PHOTO: Beta shot of the Eagle Buttress area as seen from ...
Big buttress high up in the canyon just east of the Dragon Arch Area
. You should be on your own for the entire day should you make the trek up here.
Rock quality is similar to any other rock this high up the canyon. AKA not great but would clean up if the area got some regular traffic.
Park at the old gritmill a half mile up the canyon and head out to the northwest to a trail heading up the hill. A few switchbacks and some fixed ropes (same approach trail as lots of balls slab?) will get you started, but eventually you will just have to point uphill and thrash your way there. Mission to Moscow
can be seen from the road and provides a viewable goal for the hike.
- Currently it is trespassing to walk through the old gritmill. Please respect the signs and walk around on open land to get to the trail.
