Description

Dragontail Peak is located within the Enchantments, off of the Icicle Creek access road. Park at the end of the road and begin hiking on the Mt. Stuart trail, but at around 2.5 miles go left towards Colchuck Lake (there will be a sign at the split in the trail). Continue until you get to Colchuck lake. Dragontail Peak is on the South end of the lake, just right of Asgard Pass.

Getting There

Drive to Leavenworth Washington, take Icicle Creek road, then turn onto Bridge Creek road, and park at the end of the road at the Mt Stuart trail head.

This is a uber classic in the Enchantments. From Colchuck lake, Head towards the lowest protrusion of rock approximately in the middle of the peak. Bear slightly left, where you will see two possible starts. Take the left or right start of the first couloir. Ascend this until you reach the runnels. These are the steep snow and ice pitches separating the first and second couloirs. These take ice screws depending on conditions or pitons and some rock gear. From the top of the runnels continue up t...[more]   Browse More Classics in WA
