Description Suggest change

This is an excellent area for beginner to intermediate bouldering with a few harder problems sprinkled in with superb granite stone. It faces south, so it can be hot in the summer, but it is great in the cooler months. Bernard Gillett's St. Vrain Canyon guide has excellent pictures and description of the problems. I have found many more than he has in his book. Also, note how different my pictures are than Bernard's because of the fire that occurred here.

Getting There Suggest change

Take CR 47 off of US 36 north of Pinewood Springs exactly 2 miles to a pullout. Hike NE downhill to the river (West fork of the Little Thompson River). Hike north up river. Right where the canyon and river make a sharp left, hike uphill NE. There is a downed tree above some low angle slabs to mark this spot. The boulders are only 5-7 minutes uphill on a vague trail. There is no real trail to follow, it's just adventure hiking. The riverbed is very easy with some nice sand spots and boulder hopping.
