The Granitica Festival 2012 happening on October 12th & 13th in Prescott AZ. This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity to hear stories and see pictures from some of Northern Arizona rock climbing pioneers; David Lovejoy, Rusty Bailliey, Scott Baxter, Karl Karlstrom, Tom Taber, Lee Dexter, Jack Hauck, Steve Grossman, and perhaps Larry Coats.
The presentations will take place at the Crossroads Center at Prescott College, map here: prescott.edu/assets/documen…. Doors open at 5pm, presentations starting at 6 and running until 10pm or when they finish. There is no cost for admission to the presentations. There are a number of reserved campsites at Watson Lake for the event- 1 campsite will cost $30 for both nights. There is also a plethora of dispersed camping on forest service land.
Friday night's presentations will focus on rock climbing exploits that these individuals did elsewhere- the first ascent of the Dragon Route on the Painted Wall in the Black Canyon for example. Saturday night will focus on stories from early ascents on Granite Mountain; Saturday day will be informal.
Did I mention that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity open to the general public!!??
