Two common spelling errors in one sentence. Impressive. Maybe you should go repelling for greater affect.

John Long had this to say on Supertopo this morning:

To all my friends:

Hi everyone. Sorry to have lagged on responding but I'm still having procedures done and that is taking all of my time and energy. Should be done soon.

As you might know, when I was still out of it entirely, my friends Krista and Chris set up a fund and while their intentions are strictly honorable, some confusion arose from those who I work with who know that I am NOT in a financial crisis at this time. Perhaps that time will come - I've worked and saved for years but this is likely a near million dollar injury cha cha cha.

Anyway, because this is quickly turning into a situation that is over my head, impossible to orchestrate from this bed, my original climbing and high school friend Eric (Ricky) Accomazzo (my attorney) is from now on handling all affairs related to funraisers, me, etc. Rick Accomazzo is not only a much celebrated climber, but also trusted person in the outdoor industry and long-time advocate of the ACCESS FUND. Krista and Rick have talked so the transition to Rick having power of attorney over my affairs is now a plain fact understood by all.

That much said, I very much appreciate what Krista and Chris did while I was in surgery and the many kind responses. But this is a complicated business and I am glad to have my childhood friend and original Stonemaster Rock Accomazzo now in charge.

Sincerely,

John Long

In a nutshell, it sounds as though nobody should donate via ChipIn or any other "fund" for Largo at this time. Any donations or fundraisers will be announced at a later date and the stamp of legitimacy will be that Rick Accomazzo will be attached to any efforts.

"I'm sure JL's on a lot of pain meds and is recovering from a big hit,"

Mustard... Im sure he is on the pain Meds... but no Big hit...

I don't think JL is into that anymore. Last time I crossed paths with him he said "No thanks".....

I owe John.... way back in the day, he was the person who would kick ass in the parking lot at Humber Park. I can still recall John saying
"Keeze... it's about time you got on a 11.... " that day I did my first 5.11.

So lets have a big party... I will pay him, by the hour, if he will retell all his cool stories...

"Solo ten feet left" is an epic.

I think he meant 'big hit' as in the one to his body from the ground.

It's fucked the message is being lost to the static. It sucks that there have been rapacious pieces of shit who have abused the good will of the community and made everybody this goddamn jaded and leery.

the message hasn't been lost. i believe the people who needed to hear it have heard and stepped up. i think most of the noise is excuses that people are coming up with to not donate. what's 10 or 25 bucks for a good cause to someone who has helped us all out in ways he may never really know. i spend more on that driving one way out to joshua tree.
