I'd say that the Eaglet does not get morning sun. It's deep in the Notch (as you know) and the Old Man's Dog is right behind it acting as a wall to block the sun rising to the east.
But I'm a little bit late on this one, as I think you're on the climb as I write. Thirty years ago, it used to be a pain to find the Eaglet. I'd have to climb up a tree and look around to get my bearings. Is there a trail now?
Yes its a real trail but you can still get lost if you are one of those folks who can not navigate without looking at your cell phone... the trail crosses annother trail, follows it for a bit and then veers off. classic shake em off your back trail move that aparently grabs a few now and then;)
