All of you lurkers that get entertainment out of this site need to start "giving back". How about hearing your meek voice? What's on your mind? What do you REALLY think? Stop lurking and start posting.

just so you know I try not to post, but I find adding to the view count on a thread very fulfilling.

Lurkers?.. Gheez, It sounds like someone needs a hug for Christmas. I personally enjoy my lurking, and i enjoy this site, actually i try to enjoy most of the things in my life. I'm enjoying writing this right now. Hey, maybe you're right TP, it feels good to spray my shit anonymously out there in cyber world. So, after this amazing self discovery I'll post some helpful info, which is what this is suppose to be about right??..(sarcasm- i know sometimes dead in Mormon world)) Enough of this playful banter.
Does anyone know a good dry spot to go pebble wrestling when it's snowing here in Boulder?...i obviously need to get outside and away from my desk for a bit.

Happy Holidays

Usually I have approximately the same opinion as someone else, what does posting add, it just makes a more repetitive thread. If I want to read inane threads, I go to "/.". Mostly I use mp.com for finding partners, I don't want to post something that someone will look at and think, "what an asshole", I am not climbing with him.

I'm still baffled by the whole Barry Bonds thing. I mean he said he didn't..

oops, sorry, I was lurking.

(The facts of the matter -- it's kinda like being an activist and not registering to vote

And, if Bonds gets in, then Rose is definately in.)

Do you think they are going to go after Clemens now? Jail time?
Personally, I want my athletes to be doped up...i mean come on...don't you want a better show? What do i care if they want to destroy there bodies? Really. The litigious nature of our country is a slippery slope sometimes...and politically there are a lot more scandals which would be entertaining for us weak monkeys.

I have nothing to say on this subject.

Does that help?

It is better to be silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.

Honestly, it's because I don't feel like I have enough experience to post here. As a beginner, I feel like if I ask a question that is too simple, I'll be labeled as a newbie or a troll (as I've seen in other threads where I was genuinely interested in the answer to the original question).

Sometimes I feel like MP is a place where the experienced gather, so I feel more comfortable reading discussions and learning passively than trying to intereact and suffer the resulting "flame".

I think it is more important for people to update the routes database than to spray.

And this applies to beginners too, the only experience required is that you have climbed the climb, and if this were a place of really expert climbers, there should be plenty of "easy" climbs available to contribute. So, if you have climbed it and it's not in the database, add it!

Can't believe I'm about to join in a baseball topic:

Heard a good point about Barry Bonds against the argument that he only hit so much because he was doped up.

Isn't he still one of the greatest because he was hitting against pitchers who were doped up as well and throwing faster than back 'in good ole days'?

I try to keep a low profile this time of the year. Do you know how hard it is to be an Atheist during the holidays?

Listening and watching the politicians in this country on both sides of the aisle (which is really the same side of the aisle) is so damn demoralizing and depressing.

Living in Utah and watching the LDS faithfull is demoralizing and depressing.

Going to a Mexican restaurant that doesn't serve alcohol, doesn't have a Mexican in sight (eating or cooking), and which serves glorified Taco Bell food is demoralizing and depressing. If I was in northern Canada, I could understand...but this isn't northern Canada.

That about covers what I am pissed off about right now, happy holidays.

John, you forgot to mention that the snowpack sucks this year.

Not that I am a Bronco fan, but if I were... don't forget the Broncos.

Oh man, to head off to warm tropical climates this time of year and leave all your worries behind would be great right now. Sitting on the beach sipping lemon lulu's, or coronas. The people that get to do that piss me off too! ;)

Dude, welcome to Mountain Project. I mean seriously, welcome.

Of course you are a Noob, don't worry about it. Questions are never dumb, I mean, some are, but who the hell cares. Just get comfortable in your Noob clothing, bitch about things that piss you off, and call it good. Soon enough, you won't be a noob anymore. We were all noobs in rockclimbing at some point. No worries. If people flame you, tell them to STFU, explain that you are just a noob trying to learn, and maybe you can make them feel guilty. But if people just lurk, then it does end up being the same ten people repeating the same arguments.

Experience is relative. I mean I have experience, but I am a piece of shit compared to the REALangry. Did you read the crazy shit that he has soloed?! Sometimes I forget that climbing is dangerous.

Anyway, welcome.

listening to people bitch about mormons is boring, not demoralizing.

Funny how many climber types and other free-spirited individuals espouse the 'live and let live' principle. Yet they meet someone who thinks differently than they do and immediately get depressed and demoralized. Or worse, they get offended that someone thinks differently than they do.

But I know John Glime to be a man of principle who wouldn't let someone else get him down. He's just talking crap. The Red Iguana is owned, operated and served by immigrants from Mexico and there are 15 other restraunts between there and West Valley or wherever you live that sell damn good tacos made by Mexicans.

oh, and all politicians suck.

Ten, I agree, if I lived in an area of strong Muslim majority, I would probably get pissed off now and then. I know that if I lived in a strong Baptist area I would really get pissed off now and then. I know that if I lived in a strong Republican area I would really really get pissed off now and then. Hmmm. But sometimes being a non-mormon in Utah just about causes me to explode. It isn't innate to Mormonism, but is tied to being a big minority in a dominant culture. I am working on a Buddha like nature, but I am not there yet. I need a few more life times at least.

Your point about good available Mexican food is exactly what I am talking about, so why then was my work "Christmas Party" held at a "Mexican Restaurant" that has no desire to hold a liquor license, serves an Anglo version of what they think mexican food is, and doesn't have anyone of Latino culture in sight? And why was I the only person in a big faculty that saw a problem in this? Because I am an ass? Probably, but that is besides the point. I mean, for christ's sake not serving any form of alcohol at a Mexican Restaurant is on the verge of being sacrilegious! The fact that we are in such proximity to great Mexican food, but have the choice (and then make that choice) to eat at a glorified Taco Bell pushes me over the edge.

Do I have some issues?! You bet.

Am I a man of principle? Yeah, but MY principles could be brought to question, so that isn't saying much. Bush, Cheney, Reid, Pelosi, Clinton, Obama, each of those people bring me down every day. Damn, I wish they didn't, but they do.

The weather is bumming me out too.

You know what I really think it is that bugs me about strong religious people/groups? But in this case Mormons because I live in a Mormon Mecca? (Granted, this is a BIG GENERALIZATION.)

The thing that bugs me is that many seemingly claim a moral high ground all around me, but they don't live it. They claim to be followers of Jesus Christ, but I rarely see, what I imagine to be, Jesus like qualities in them. Are they just imperfect men and women (like we all are) that are just trying to make their way through life? Yes. Should I blame the church itself because of their behavior? YES, because the church turns a blind eye everyday. They will not take a stand on anything of consequence. They pander and barter. And they seemingly encourage their followers behavior. So, do I blame the people themselves? No, I blame the leaders of any faith that preach or allow hatred and/or violence to be taught or accepted.

Does this mean I don't respect and care about all Mormons? No. But I do get pissed off every once in awhile. I am like Old Faithful, things build up and up, and on schedule, twice a year I explode.

Is this a boring topic? Maybe. Is talking about it pointless? No, because now I feel a little bit better.

What in the hell does this have to do with Lurkers suck? In fact it probably disproves the idea that Lurkers suck. See, I should have remained lurking.

FWIW- I recently ran out of my prescribed "happy pills," can you tell?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
