| Yup,, couple days ago. Shirt is great. Did you realize that the brochure coupons just received almost all expire in 2 weeks? That's not very good publicity for the sponsors it seems. One wasn't even retyped, and read Dec.2011 on it, from last year. | FLAG |

| We have a number of things we are rethinking about how we've organized this. Thanks for being patient, and for giving us feedback. | FLAG |

| We turned in our money raised to the Friends of Devils Lake on Saturday. It's late and I'm feeling lazy, so I'm just gonna copy what Gokul sent out to participants and make a few small edits if needed to address formatting or to add updated info about this year's event: Now that the 2012 Century Challenge is in the books, we wanted to thank everyone for their participation and recap the event. So here's some numbers to start it off: 1) For 2012, the second year of the DLCCC, we doubled participation (from 25 participants in 2011), attracting 50 climbers to the cause, all the way from south of Chicago to Eau Claire, with Madison and Milwaukee area climbers making up the majority. 2) We also more than doubled the amount of money raised. This year we wrote a check to the Friends of Devil's Lake for $1150. 3) Ten of you completed a century, climbing over 100 unique routes or boulder problems at the Lake, receiving a "Devils Lake Century Challenge" Petzl Attache locking 'biner for the accomplishment. Full scores are included in the attachments - for those that climbed more than 100 routes in a category, "points" refers to the cumulative score from the top 100 climbs. 4) Participants turned in scorecards with a total of 1982 ticks on 864 unique routes and problems from all round the park. This info was used in other endeavors, as it gave us documented evidence of exactly when and where people were climbing in the park. This is useful for things like this. 5) 35 people attended the final party and awards dinner at Boulders gym, which included free climbing and free pizza and soda supplied by Glass Nickel Pizza. Some people drove a couple hours to make it, and most people also made it to the after-party at Karben4 brewery. Raffle prizes included: gift cards from Fontana Sports, Wildside, Glass Nickel Pizza and Erehwon Mountain Outfitters, Marty's Pizza, cases of Ballistic IPA from Ale Asylum, Osprey packs, tubs of Mike's Mix recovery drink, and memberships to Turners Climbing Gym. In addition to the funds raised for the Friends of DL, members of the Hoofer Mountaineering Club were involved in efforts to keep Devil's Lake a great destination for climbing and other outdoor activities. A number of graffiti cleaning and trash removal operations were planned and carried out over the course of the year. And with help from the WCA and climbers from the area, we repaired badly eroded sections of the approach trail to the Old Sandstone area, putting in switchbacks and making the trail much safer to use. If you're interested, we'd be happy to keep you informed of similar future activities and hope you can join us in these too. I think it is also noteworthy that Doug Hemken, one of our organizers, has been given a seat on the board of the Friends of Devils Lake, and he believes this event had something to do with them offering the position. Happy climbing in 2013. We hope to see you in the Challenge again, and at the crag! We'll probably get registration opened a little later this year, as we are making a lot of changes to the organization of the event. Rest assured, it's gonna happen again, and anything you climb during 2013 can be counted, even if you hadn't signed up yet. | FLAG |
