I'm looking for advice on describing a trad route that shares early pitches with another trad route. There seems to be variable "convention" within MP and many guidebooks about new routes that share pitches. Is the following a reasonable model to use?
1. New route versus variation of existing route. New route if overall line is obviously distinct from existing routes, variation of existing route if the difference is limited to particular pitches within an existing overall line.
2. Number of pitches for new route - description of new route includes all pitches (shared and new) in total.
3. Description of pitches - shared pitches are not described in the new route's description, but links or reference to their original descriptions are provided. New pitches are described as part of the new route.
