Description
Dershane is a narrow canyon lined with sharp, less than vertical limestone. The climbing is not the best in the area, however the canyon is cooler if it's hot. The area is quiet, with most climbers in the area pulling on the better stone. There are a hand full of 2 pitch routes, and some of the single pitch routes are up to a 100 ft in length. The grades here are moderate with most coming in at 5.10. If you are in the Olympos area for a few days, Dershane is worth a visit
Getting There
There is only one road in and out of Olympos, and it's lined with restaurants and pensions. The Dershane Sector is located on the south (right driving in) side of the road. If you have a car, park in one of the unreserved parking spots across from Varuna Bed and Breakfast. Right in front of you will be the Horguc Sector, follow the river bed to the left and around the Horguc cave, to where the Orange Bar entrance is. Walk up the small stream bed that passes the Orange Bar on the left, and you are in the Dershane canyon.
