The Joshua Tree National Park Superintendent's Compendium states that:
1. Vegetation is not allowed to be used as an anchor.
2. Only neutral or rock colored bolt hangers are allowed.

Description
Deceit is on the west face of the south pinnacle. It runs along the right side of the west face, starting at a small right-facing corner and continuing up a chunky crack.
A scary, dead tree looms overhead.
Alternately, start on the left side of the face and angle to the easier terrain on the right edge of the pinnacle.
