DC area climbing partners

I live in Northern Virginia and I'm looking for some more safe people to climb with. I have a few people who I usually climb with, but they are frequently busy with other things, so I often don't have the chance to climb as much as I want to. I frequent Great Falls and Carderock most of the time, with occasional excursions to Sugarloaf Mountain. I also have a membership at Sport Rock. I primarily climb on the weekends, but I can easily make it to Great Falls or Carderock after work on the weekdays.

I've been climbing for a year and a half and 5.8 is my limit on top-rope outside. I'm not a super strong climber, but I love climbing and I consider myself very knowledgeable, having been trained by professional guides and done multi-pitch climbs at Seneca Rocks and Red Rock Canyon. I've been top-roping since I started, but I am going to start trad leading this month by starting on some easy climbs.

Let me know if you would like to climb. I am especially interested in climbing with people who are either already trad leaders or who are looking to get in to trad, but I am willing to climb with anyone regardless of their skill level as long as they are safe and have a good attitude. Having materials to set up a top-rope anchor would also be a plus, but not required as I have everything to do that already.

Contact the Mountaineering Section (MS) of the Potomac Appalacian Trail Club (PATC).

They are a local climbing group in the DC area. They have a website as well as an online "listserve" for finding partners and arranging local climbing trips.

Good luck.

Thanks Marty. Didn't think of doing that.

The PATC listserv is honestly the best way to meet DC climbers. I didn't quite understand it when I lived there, but it's what they do.

Hopefully this link works for you, it's a bitch to find if no one sends it your way.

Hey, been climbing for a bit under a year and looking for partners as well. Never done any multipitch, done some sport leading indoors, and I do have gear to set up a top rope. Would be more than willing to join you at Great Falls/ Carderock on the weekend. I also go to sportrock. Definitely interested in getting into trad at some point.

Cool Nicolas. If you want to climb at Sportrock sometime this week, let me know.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
