Trail head at parking lot of Dayton Pocket/Laurel ...

Description

Home to the amazing Vapor Roof, Dayton pocket is famous for it's huge horizontal roof with sculpted pockets, pinches and flakes. For those interested in exploring or wanting to escape the crowds, this south-facing hill also hosts a high-quality boulder field with lots of potential for FA's.

If you are curious about all the overgrown coal mining structures in the valley, check out posterityproject.blogspot.com/... or rheaheraldnews.com/story/17753

Getting There

(a dirt road across from the Old Time Holiness Church). The road will dead end in the parking area.

Approach:

300 V9 7C  TN : Dayton Pocket/Laurel Falls ... : 300 Boulder
One of the best roof problems ever! Cool holds, crazy geometry, feet-first roof moves, and two beta intensive exits. Sit down start on a strange sloper, big moves gain a good flake in the roof. Down climb along the flake until you can reach around the roof.If you like slopers, head left. If you prefer edges, go right. Both are the some grade....[more]   Browse More Classics in TN
