| Just watched the Dark Knight Rises. Clearly, the most unbelievable, physics defying/important scene to deconstruct in the movie is how Bruce Wayne, after dislocating a vertebrae in an earlier fight with Bane, manage to not re-injure his back when he takes a 20ft factor 1.1 fall on a hemp rope tied around his body with some sort of bowline knot? | FLAG |

| I suppose its the same way that they can blow up the middle of a bridge and both side remain intact. WTF!? Even more out of touch with reality than the roped fall. | FLAG |

| Wasn't he top roping though? Could have tied in and climbed the other side of the rope. | FLAG |

| Observations: 1) Why no leg-loops? 2) Clearly someone at some point placed a piton on lead. Why not bring a second piton and place it high above the ledge right before the jump, so if you miss the dyno you take a top-rope fall (or a short lead fall) as opposed to a massive pendulum factor 1. 3) Dynamic belay anyone? 4) Why is he jumping for a ledge rather than just using all the cobblestone jugs to climb to it? | FLAG |

It is a movie, they are not climbers. That segment was probably shot in a studio on a green screen. | FLAG |

| Obviously because the bowline absorbed all the shock. That's why everyone should use the bowline. | FLAG |

| All I know is the next time I can't climb a route clean or figure out a move, I'll going to free solo it. If it works for Bruce Wayne it will work for me! | FLAG |
