For anyone who boulders at Bradley Mountain in CT, or climbs at the Firewall there, this is a major concern. The mine expansion would decimate all of the land (including the Firewall) around Crescent Lake in Southington. Anyone have any information on a petition or anything?
Thanks

It wouldnt go near the Firewall, it would actually protect land immediately north of it and the whole Metacomet trail.

It would wipe out the trail north of the lake near the existing mine from the maps I saw. At the least it would hug the trail so your view on one side would be 30 miles down to Sleeping Giant and gravel pit on the other side of the trail.

The official high point north of the lake which I believe is called Bradley Mtn. would be leveled or close to ruined. There would also be a bunch of really good bouldering and a decent cliff or two up there that would be taken, just none of the usual spots.

IMO its complete bullshit, that fucking mine is huge enough, Tilcon has plenty of mines in CT already and there is plenty of basalt to go after in their existing mines. I assume its cheaper to just level virgin hills than mine deeper. Plus the property they own and want to swap would mine the Metacomet trail and they know the opposition would be insane, they think this is the easy way.
