Keeping climbing areas open and conserving the climbing environment

Description Classic Woodson sandbag. This testpiece gets the cardio going by offering offhands with no feet, to fist, to offwidth snailing at the top. Running laps on this will get you ready for some of Yosemite's 5.9s...Highly Recommended
Location After cresting the road to the summit, continue west down the road through the city of antennas. Just as the last antenna is past this route and its step-brother the The Test Tube are found on the left.
Protection TR, bolts. Walk up the backside

This climb has taught me an important lesson. Wear socks, long pants, a short sleeve shirt AND a long sleeve shirt, as well as a helmet and tape gloves. With all of this on I was still bleeding when I finished. Very strenuous past the first half, but just keep inchworming and stick with it!

I've lead this climb several times and solo TR'd it with an arm cast on. This climb is NOT a sandabag and was fairly rated 5.10b for many years by people who knew how to climb wide cracks. Just because you gym rats and sport climbers suck at wide cracks, don't think you can simply pump up the rating to pump up your ego.

Fun, long sleeves are good.

I think having an arm cast on would definitely downgrade this climb to 5.10b if not 5.9. It would really give the unfair advantage of extra armor and you could jam it in all sorts of new and creative ways.

Are you serious mschlocker? I don't have the pleasure of knowing Rocky, but he seems to have it right. You gym rats need to stop crying and start climbing.

Just trying to add some humor so this site does not end up like RC.com (which rates The Crucible 5.10c). Are we really having a pissing contest about one or two letter grades? Have you even climbed The Crucible Ben? I thought it was hard, the site rating was 5.10d so I went with it. If it is easier than that for you I applaud your offwidth prowess. There is no need to be vicious to people who you really know nothing about.

Loved how this climb varied in the widths, absolutely stellar route, and a real grunt fest!
