BETA PHOTO: Upper bridge routes

Add Photo  Add Comment    Printer View

Description

Starts on jugs and sidepulls, continues with pockets, cobble jugs and a crimp or two to a good rest. After the rest, climb up to an intimidating overhang. Clip the last bolt, bear left to surmount the overhang, and arrive at the anchors.

Location

Look for a tall chimney upcanyon just a bit from camping area past the bridge. On the wall to the left of the chimney Crime Scene is the second route from the right. The route climbs over a small, dark pod.

Protection

8 bolts, 2-bolt anchor.

This is in Stuart Green's Rock Climbing Utah and the Dr. Topo guide as 5.11a; however, it was originally represented to me as a 5.10d. A weak and timid climber, I onsighted it, so it is unlikely to actually be 5.11a.

Is this the climb just left of a very short 8 or 9ish route? There's a little stream that cuts right near the wall as well?? If so, this is an excellent climb and a fun little wall. The steep part at the top is pumpy, I clipped the last bolt from an undercling and then traversed slightly left to good holds, up to the anchor to the right. Very fun, I'd call it more 10c or 10d except for the pump factor.
