Description Suggest change

A featured dome set against the southwest end of the Glass Mountains, south of the Looking Wall. The rock is solid with potential for a bunch of sport routes and a few two pitch routes. I bolted a line in the steepest part of the wall. I saw no evidence anyone else had ever climbed here. The upper wall -- gained from the ledge cutting in from the west side, looks like it will hold a few sport routes as well. North facing with afternoon sun. Beautiful setting in a high desert locale. THIS IS CALLED THE "CRAG OF DOOM" NOW. Go to that page for more detail and new routes.

Getting There Suggest change

From 395 take the Benton Crossing (Green Church) road toward Benton. After you cross the Owens River, you head south. After about a mile, go left on forest road 3S148 towards Wilfred Canyon. When you reach a "T", head right/south for a short ways, then look for a sheep watering area (near some powerline poles). At this sheep watering area take a faint road up and over brush up toward the dome until you run out of road. Hike about 20 minutes to the rock. Suggestion -- use GPS to get you there the first time. Also, check out the overview photo I included.
