Description 

Crank Start Crack (aka Kern Crank Start) is a good, but short crack that is right off the road. The crux is right off the ground. Its location makes it a good quick stop when heading up river.

Location 

Directly across the street from Chico Flat. Look for the sign on the left side of the road, a couple hundred yards past the parking area for the New Directions cluster. There is a tree growing directly right of the crack that keeps it relatively shaded a lot of the time.

Protection 

Pro .5" to 2". Bolts on top can be accessed from behind to set up a top rope.
