Crags with the best views

So I just got back from Acadia National park. a group of us went up there for the climbing, which was decent, but it was more about the setting. its truly beautiful up there, being able to climb over the ocean and all the amazing views.
this got me thinking about what areas there are to climb that have the best views. granted pretty much anywhere is going to have a great view once you get to the top but im thinking of crags that have truly spectacular views or nearby attractions, i.e. climbing over the ocean or a lake like Summersville or overlooking a city or something like that. unfortunately theres no way to search for something like that on MP so im looking for input. ideally im looking for input on the east coast as im looking for another place to take a climbing trip to but im open for any suggestions.

thanks!

Like you said, lots of places have great views once you're on top or up a few pitches. Northeastern cragging destinations which come to mind as having great views even if you're just standing at the base belaying:

Avalanche Pass (Adks)
Panther Gorge (Adks)
Courthouse Cliff (Adks)
Noonmark Mt. (Adks)
Owls Head Mt. (Adks)
Rogers Rock (Adks)
Snowy Mt. (Adks)
Cannon Cliff (NH)
Huntington Ravine (NH)
Square Ledge (NH)
Artist Bluff (NH)
Mt. Willard (NH)
(Someone want to chime in with some VT areas?)

It goes without saying that some of these are a long way from the road and require substantial hiking to get to.

Black Canyon-- you get views of what you have to go through if you fail.

Mt Watkins in Yos...

Long Canyon in Moab is pretty spectacular. You get to see the Needles district of canyon lands laid out at the end of a massive canyon, all while climbing 3-4 star splitters.

Edited: East Coast: A lot of the areas in NC are multipitch and therefore have great views of the surrounding mountains one you get above the trees. Linville Gorge is incredible and many of the areas have views from the base as well as the top. Whiteside is hard but spectacular (concave wall so you get to see the whole cliff while you are climbing on it).

I wasn't a rock climber while I was there but some of the most beautiful areas I have seen were in malawi. I took some random pictures while I was there but nothing that really captures the beauty of some of the areas I was at in the country.

Couple of the better ones I got of one mountain we climbed partly up maybe 5.1 free solo up a chimney type thing to get the second photo. The first photo is from the ground looking up to what we climbed on.

People say that Camelback here in Phoenix is just a bunch of chossy petrified mud, but sometimes the view on the approach makes up for it. It sure is amazing what women wear for hiking here in the heat... A couple of eye patches, shoes and a bottle of water and they're off!!!

Summit of Yellow Spur in Eldorado Canyon is probably the coolest place I've ever belayed.

The Grand Canyon has pretty awesome views while climbing. Also, though I've never been, it looks like The Verdon Gorge in France might have some good ones!

Great stuff so far! I've been eyeballing some north Carolina stuff but haven't made it down there yet. For what it's worth I can sport climb a 10 and I'm still wet behind the ears for trad and I'm pushing 6,7,8

No matter what you're doing Squamish is pretty amazing... and the climbing isn't bad either.

Oh yeah.

Smuggler's Notch - Elephant's Head or Quartz Crack
Bone Mountain - A clear day will let you see NH and NY
Bristol Cliffs (ice) - A late day gives you an Adirondack sunset. What more could you ask for.

For East Coast.....

+1 for Square Ledge. Small crag, easy climbing, but the view of Mt Washington ravines is like having it in your living room.

South Buttress of Whitehorse Ledge in North Conway. Pretty sweet grand vista, especially poignant in the Fall.

North Carolina- Take your pick from Looking Glass, Table Rock, and even Moore's Wall. NC has profoundly scenic rock climbing areas.
