Castle Crag is the most visable of the East Peak climbing areas as it can be seen from I-691. While there is little climber traffic in this area, there are a few moderate climbs to warm up for some of the classics in the area. Debris from the parking area and the castle can be troublesome, there are climbs named for this reason.
Getting There
The Matacomet trail passes by the crag, beat access is via the road from Hubbard Park in Meriden. Follow the road to the Castle (can be driven to in season), make your way to the base of the cliff on a gully trail or rap down. With some experience you'll find all of the shortcuts in no time.
