Thinking about heading down there in a couple weeks for a long weekend, so I was curious if folks have been out climbing. Is there snow on the ground? Will crags (Drive-By, Solar Collector, etc) be seeping? I hear Miguel's will be opening back up on the 20th, no?

Thanks in advance for all the feedback!

In this area the snow comes and goes quickly. It was almost 50 about 10 hours ago but right now it's dumping snow and drilling down to 15. You could have great weather and everything be bone dry or you could have crap weather. I'm not sure about certian walls at the red but I have heard there are at least a couple areas that stay dry.

If it was me I would hold off until late march when things warm up a bit.

Been climbing off and on all winter, the rock has felt good when it's been warm enough to climb as far as friction goes, actually got my hardest onsight in January. Just check the temps before you go, I can usually tolerate climbing in the 40s just got to pick a sunny wall. Watch out for flying icicles if coming during a thaw!

If your coming from PA then you should be ok with the cold at the red. Winter would probably be a great time to climb there since most people will be traveling farther south or out to the deserts.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
