Does anyone know what they are building out at Shelf Road? It looks to be an access gate similar to the entrance to Eldo. Last weekend we were driving up to climb and we had to go around what looked to be the start of a foundation that would house an access gate. This is not the current access gate that was installed near The Bank campground. It definitely does not look to be a storm water channel, or something similar. Just wondering.

It looked like there was a lot of erosion on both sides of the new slab. I would have guessed that it was to protect the road from storm water. What makes you think otherwise?

It looked like a slab to me. Which would only indicate that they were going to put up some type of access gate. However I'm sure someone would have posted something like this if that was the case. So I'm with you that I think it was more for storm water protection.

Like everyone else that drove past it I only got a glimse of it because I was too psyched to get to climbing.
