labor of love, huh, i would say that is about right. broke ground on the guide in 2005, although i have "researched" that canyon since '98. last time i checked, total route count for the book is almost 450.
oh and john, regarding a platte guide. seed has been planted. albeit, in deep soil. ;) kevin, what are you doin the next few years? | |

Hahah...I have thought about it sometimes, but more about a miniguide to a specific area, but most likely that would lead to me being shunned by most of my partners. A couple of years is more like 5 years full time if you wanted to really do it justice. Plus the thing would be the size of S. Greens Rock Climbing Colorado!
BTW I went by Neptune's today and it seems that the store copy is already missing, most likely confiscated by an employee who was going climbing. | |

I used to have issue with the Hubbel guide to the Splatte because it was so flawed.
Then I climbed more there and have forgiven any errors.
To write a comprehensive book on the splatte would be like writing a comprehensive book on space. All of it. | |

anyone that has spent a significant time in the platte would understand the effort that Pete paved. Maybe the platte is better off as a wild, intriguing, and mystical adventure.

Darren, any plans (or objections) to work further on the Creekside routes? save for such a crappy cragname, -- positions, movements, & rock quality, established as mixed; I think it's one of the best, sporty but still gives the climber a good Eldo feel. | |
