| big ass log spans the creek now slightly downstream from the old molly gulch campground. i have used it in the highest of waters. helens dome should be climbable pretty soon, but the north face of sheeprock will take a couple more months. then you will be seein me up there | |

| answered my own question on saturday. road to helen's dome was clear. we crossed the creek about 100 feet upstream from the logs that are across the creek, which were covered with about a foot of snow. we walked across a snow bridge that was pretty solid, but will probably be gone before too long.
we hiked up to do 'charlie don't surf', and instead of hiking up a bit further to the south, we went up the usual helen's dome approach to the lower west face routes. this kind of ate up time due to snow wallowing and the usual bushwhacking/boulder scrambling.
managed to to CDS by kicking steps up the lower 8 to 10 feet until we could get into the crack. a lot of snow at the base. pretty chilly as there was no sun, but luckily the wind was calm until we were finished.
drove the road towards big rock. deep snow with a couple tracks, and then shortly after the goose creek campground (couple miles south of the molly gulch campground), the road became impassable due to snow.
over and out. | |

| hiked up to the left side of north face of SheepRock friday. tons of snow still and waist-deep post holing (eh, swimming!) on the ridge just after the slabs. snow still on all the ledges and usual wet spots seepage. helens dome is clear, though. creek low for now, log dry. trail connecting to the horse trail is faint to non existant, with my pink survey tags deteriorated to nothing.
still an adventure.
