climbing comming off of gumpy groove...


Description 

Gumbi Groove is a short climb on a big rock, sitting climbers right of Bushes Of Beelzebub by about 30'. Standing at the base it's hard to see the first bolt, so start climbing....it's there. This steep slab offers technical friction to the third bolt then a short traverse right and up on thin edges to the fourth. From there a quick few steps to the anchors.

This is a really fun climb on good granite slab. The anchor at the top is certainly solid.

This route has some nasty fall potential, I would not recommend it to anyone who is not really solid on 5.10 South Platte friction climbing. There are significant runouts after the third bolt and above the fourth. Good route for a helme

Rob Baker and I put this one in about 1982. We took turns drilling on the lead from free stances that really pushed the limits of our nerves and toes.
