A sixty-foot beautiful piece of granite set along the river. There are four routes on the Block (three sport, one mixed) and the east face has in my opinion one of the best face pitches (11D) in the canyon. There is also a fair amount of bouldering in the area with scattered boulders lining the ridge and meadow left of the Block.
Getting There
From the start of the canyon (pay station) drive 7.7 miles to a small pullout on the right. Drop down a steep fisherman's trail to the river. Cross the river (boulder hopping) and then go right along a faint the right for 100 feet. Look left for a large fallen pine tree. Go left through the tree and then right passing a nice boulder in a open meadow. The Block lies 50 feet past the boulder in the trees.
