BETA PHOTO: Digital Tower from the Southwest

Description

One of the newer crags at Devil's Head, this rock features six sport routes up to 100' in length. This is also the closest rock to the firetwoer providing expansive views of the Lost Creek Wilderness, The Sangre De Cristos and Pike's Peak. So far the routes range in difficulty from 11c to 12d.

Getting There

To get there go downhill 100 yards southwest from the ranger cabin just below the firetower.

C++ 5.11c  CO : South Platte : ... : Digital Tower
Located 100 yards southwest of the firetower on the formation known as Digital Tower this route either starts on the arete or in a crack to the left. This route is on the planar, south-facing wall of Digital Tower. If you start on the arete, step left at 50' unless you want to do the 12d arete. The route has two cruxes and a rather distracting view. Enjoy....[more]   Browse More Classics in CO

For anyone that is interested, I posted a number of topo-type photos on the new areas at Devil's Head.I put up all the routes on Digital Tower and some of the routes on The Crag Ranch.There are two more major crags in this new valley, but no photos of those yet.

It's a bit late in the year for this- the road into Devil's Head will close in a couple of weeks. But maybe someone will be able to find these routes next spring.
