The Cathedral Spires are closed from March 1 to July 31 for raptor nesting.

Description

The little brother/sister to The Dome with the same type of Crack, Friction, and Face climbing.....just shorter.

Getting There

There are multiple ways to get here, but I am only giving the most direct route from Denver. Head West on US 285 to Pine Junction then turn South towards Pine/Deckers on 126 Rd. Not too far past Pine you will come upon FR 96 where you will turn Left (East/North East). After you turn you will see the impressive Cathedral Spires area and start drooling. Continue approx. three miles to a turn out on the left. Just to the South of the turn out is the Chicken Boulder Crag and to the North are the Angle Iron Slabs. Look for the trail and start walking. Once The Little Dome becomes visible, look for a trail that heads North.

Anybody been up here since 2/1/02? Is there signs posted about the closure? Is this one included? Any info would be appreciatted! If I don't hear, I'll let you all know what I see soon...

Little Dome is closed, we drove by there this weekend, and they have signs posting the whole area as closed. So, it appears that the entire Spires/Dome area is done until the end of July...

One tip, there is a fork in the trail, one way goes to the ridge leading up to the Dome area; the other to the Sunshine Wall. If you want to go to the Little Dome/Dome, don't take the trail fork going right. Our thinking had us cut through a gully and end up fighting a boulder field all the way. Man that sucked.
