Bruce Hildenbrand at the crux.

Description

A pleasant little roadside route that is quite close to the road. This is on the upstream end of the North Narrows Slab about 5.3 miles up past CO Hwy 7 & US 36.

Clip a bolt, a pin, and follow 4 more bolts to the top. The crux seemed to be in the upper half of the route where the pitch steepens a bit. It could be soft for 10a, but it's reasonably fun. Rolofson's and Hubbel's guide list it at 5.10a and they give it 2 of 5 & 3 of 5 stars respectively. 1.48 stars here :) 25m.

Protection

5 bolts, 1 pin, 2 bolt anchor.

Alley Cat Street from across the road. The route climbs the prominent water streak; five bolts and one pin in 100'. Bruce Hildenbrand is replacing the first bolt.

This slab is not a "gimme". 10a seems fair. Maybe it was my concern over the quality of the bolts. Not the worse I have ever clipped though, but probably could stand to be updated. Fall Factors would be low, so they probably ok. At least a SSV 2 stars maybe 3 if you consider the approach. The anchor leaves a little to be desired, but is functional. A Hilti just ain't in my budget right now.

Yeah, I have to give this one 2 stars (measured against other climbs in the area). Fun balancy climbing with a short crux section.

On 5/16/2006, Ron Olsen and I replaced the five protection bolts and two anchor bolts with stainless steel (SS) 3/8" Rawl bolts and upgraded the old SMC hangers with Petzl Couers. This route lies in a often-wet water streak so the upgrade seemed appropriate. We also added chains for rappel.

The hardware for this work was provided by the ASCA (www.safeclimbing.org). They appreciate your support.
