Description

  • NEW*
Climbing Club night Wed. 6:15pm-8:00pm. Come in for skills building with an instructor for tips and direction. All abilities and all ages. Anyone who wants to climb better come on in. Equipment is provided. There is no charge or registration, just drop in and climb with us.
_______________________________________________________

The wall is located within the Glenwod Springs Rec Center. It was constructed by Monolithic Sculptures (http://monosculpt.com/index.php), the same company that designed the Spot Gym among others. The wall is a natural rock construction and climbs brilliantly on the natural features ranging from 5.10-5.14? and V0-V6+. The wall also has T-nuts for screw on holds for a change of set routes in addition to the natural terrain. The wall is top rope equipped with auto belays and ropes and bouldering is allowed to feet-to-head-height. At least 3 of the natural routes would be classics if they were outside.

BELAY CERTIFIED CLIMBERS with their own equipment are allowed to climb any time except during climbing classes (usually Wed. 5:00pm-6:15pm). Come in during staffed hours for a belay certification or belay lesson. Belay lessons are free of charge. YOU MUST BE ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE PROPER MODERN TECHNIQUE IN THE USE OF PROPER EQUIPMENT TO PASS YOUR Certification. (If it has been a while or never since you have had formal training see this article: http://www.climbing.com/print/techtips/ttsport225/)

We provide all equipment free of charge during staffed hours(harnesses, shoes, chalk, belay devices, and helmets (usual for outdoor trips)). We carry climbing shoes from Kids 11 to adult size 13. There is no additional fee for the use of the wall. CLIMBERS 4-6 YEARS OLD MUST HAVE A BELAY CERTIFIED PARENT TO SUPERVISE.

The daily drop in fees are as follows:

Passes include use of the pool, water and floor aerobics, climbing wall, public skating (November - March), tennis (without reservations), gymnasium, ongoing fitness classes and fitness center.

Routes

Our gym has real rock construction and these are all permanent features. It is designed to look and climb like rock. The routes I posted are sculpted into the wall, like the crack at Rock'n Jamin, but more realistic (about $150 per square foot more realistic). Flat Landers occasionally ask us how they got a rock face inside the building (seriously!). We have bolt on holds in addition to those features, but these routes climb only built in sculpted features. Please check out the wall designer/manufacturers website to get a look at their construction: http://monosculpt.com/cw.php

You gotta be kidding me. Why would you post gym routes on here? I can see posting the gym info but plastic routes do not belong here. The moderator should take them down now - Please!!

Agreed. This is more of a solicitation and doesn't seem suitable for the site, much less the route database. The jokes on me if this place doesn't exist...there was a similar post a while back that was pretty good sarcasm.

I'm travelling cross country this winter to project that 4 star .12d fake crack.

Quit yer moanin', this is a huge boon for the Crystal River Valley. Previously there was only a crappy little wall at CMC a little ways out of town. There are a lot of climbers who I'm sure really appreciate knowing there is an indoor option for cold/snowy/rainy days over there.

Don't forget about the SWEEET waterslide in the heated indoor pool. That's the real attraction for climbers (shower included).
