Some of the stellar bouldering on the Weller appro...

Description

South-facing slab above the Weller Campground. Solid rock, excellent views in all directions. Most obvious feature is the right-facing Zanzibar Dihedral.

There are a few sport routes, but mostly the routes are trad.

Getting There

Park either in the Weller Lake trailhead parking or directly across from the campground entrance. There are two small pull-outs there.

Approach is through the campground, there is a trail starting out of campground host site (2007 anyway). Then it is up the obvious talus field to the base of the slab.

Zanzibar Dihedral 5.8  CO : Independence Pass : Weller Slab
Fun, right-facing corner with great gear. Stem, layback, jam your way up to a crux move as the corner leans right. The corner pinches at this point for a move and then there is a great jam, pull around a small bulge on excellent holds and you are home free....[more]   Browse More Classics in CO
