The Weeping Boulder.

Description

Start down low on a shitty undercling with your left hand and right wherever. Pull up to a set of crimps and head up to the sloper. Stick it and move out right to another sloper and then finish it up - topout.

The RED route in the picture.

Location

This boulder is one of the first boulders you see when you hit up this area. Its very unmistakeable since its streaked orange and black.

Protection

Pad - if that.

Hey GCH, I appreciate you posting all this information about this area of Unaweep. However, I'd be careful claiming first ascents around this area as people have been bouldering here for years, and many of these problems have been sent in the past and the chalk has long since washed away.

This problem in particular was done a couple years ago by Curt Love (after much cleaning), and called Orange Roughy. Curt wouldn't even claim first ascent because he knows that there is a long bouldering history in this area. This goes for several other of the problems you have listed as FAs in the "Late Bloomer Area".

I certainly dig all the pics and hard work you've done posting problems in GJ. Thanks

NEH,
I've posted several problems around GJ as well, and have been leery about assigning names. I am fairly certain that my problem at this sector, Forgotten Friend, was a FA when I did it in 2007, based on how much I had to clean it. But if you recognize any of the problems I've posted, please comment (several at Riggs and all the problems at the Ridge at Dynamite Shacks).

It's a pet peeve of mine to see a lot of unnamed problems- especially if I'm projecting them, but I also would prefer to give credit where it is due- so it's a tricky balance.

That's good news!! I appreciate someone saying something....
I'll make the proper corrections.

I'm all ears when it comes to any corrections to the problems I've put up.
