Mee Canyon

Description 

Mee Canyon is located west of Grand Junction. It is a remote desert canyon offering many possibilities for adventure. It is a popular canyon hike for backpackers, and is often coupled with a hike of Knowles Canyon to create a loop from Glade Park. It's primary feature is Arch Tower.

Getting There 

The easiest approach to Mee Canyon is by boat. Float the Colorado River from the put-in at Loma down about 12 miles to Mee Canyon on your left. This is a BLM administred area, and there are campsites river left.
Another (very long) way in would require a hike from a Glade Park trailhead. I've met backpackers that have done this, but you will have to investigate the best way to get in from Glade Park. Kelsey's canyoning guidebooks have a descritpion.

This tower is of high quality rock in a pristine remote setting. It does have quite a bit of wide crack climbing, but it is an absolutely fantastic adventure. We would recommend not climbing it in early June like we did. It was 107 degrees during the day.
