Golden Gate Canyon is a State Park and a $5 (2007) fee is required for entrance. Self serve kiosks exist throughout the park.

Description
Tremont Mountain is more of a ridge than a peak. From the true summit, a gnarly ridge runs south providing many rock climbing/ridge-running opporutinites. Although the approach is a trailless bushwhack, the views and options for climbing are plentiful. These routes receive no sun, only shade in mornings since most of the routes exist on west-facing rock. Easy to see incoming weather though! Very few if any people ever travel here...no trails. The rock is granite and of good quality = solid.

From the east: Golden Gate Canyon Rd. from CO-93 in Golden. Travel ~14 miles directly into the park (Gilpin County).
