A fine selection of granite boulders along the Poudre River and in the talus on the hillside above. There are both spectacular highballs and problems more moderate in stature to suit the needs of just about anyone. Many new lines could be done amongst the large talus field.
Getting There
Continue about 3 miles past the 420s (about 45 miles from Ted's place at the intersection of Highway 287 and Highway 14). Look for an easy to miss pulloff on the left side of the road for the Tunnel Picnic Area. The road heads downhill to picnicking sites and a 10 car parking lot. Cross the river and walk downstream for 30 seconds to find the first boulders.
I've been exploring this area a lot lately. It seems like the potential for good moderate problems is pretty big. Many of the established problems seem to be fairly stout but remain unreported. Most of the "new" development can be accessed by crossing the stream and heading directly uphill into the talus.
